Hip bottle

There is a slight smell to my new Hip bottle. What should I do?

We recommend cleaning your Hip Bottle before first use to remove any new bottle smell.

To clean, either run it for one cycle in the dishwasher or even better fill it 3/4 the way with warm water and a tablespoon of baking soda, screw lid on, give a good shake to blend, let the contents sit for approximately 40 minutes to one hour, and then rinse with warm soapy water. Hip is made from Tritan, which is BPA and BPS free so any new bottle taste or odor isn’t a sign of harmful chemicals.

Please take care when using hot liquids over 120°F / 70°C. Always open the slider and/or remove the lid so steam pressure does not build up. Let the beverage sit for a few minutes before handling. Do not use with boiling water.

Do not overfill. Clean with warm soapy water or on the top rack in your dishwasher. Do not freeze. Please remove lid before microwave use. Cup is microwave safe, lid is not and may be damaged. Wash before using.
